Serving Others

Faith in Action

At First Presbyterian Church of Bluffton, we believe that following Jesus means loving our neighbors and putting our faith into action.

We serve in many different ways—through our own ministries, by partnering with organizations in our community, and by supporting Presbyterian mission work across the country and around the world.

Whether it's caring for children, feeding a neighbor, responding to a crisis, or supporting communities far beyond Bluffton, we believe everyone has something to offer.

Caring for Children & Families

Early Learning Ministry

Our Day Care Ministry and Preschool provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for children and families in our community.

These ministries are open to all families, regardless of their religious background or affiliation. You do not have to be a member of First Presbyterian Church to be part of our Early Learning Ministry.

Serving Our Community

We are grateful for the many organizations that work every day to care for our neighbors. First Presbyterian supports local ministries through financial contributions, donations, collecting needed supplies, and volunteer service.

Our community partnerships and outreach include:

  • Adams-Wells Crisis Center

  • Boys & Girls Club

  • Caylor-Nickel Family YMCA

  • The Connecting Center

  • Family Centered Services

  • Karing for Kids

  • Kate's Kitchen — our congregation helps serve dinner on the third Wednesday of each month

  • United Way Faith Fund

  • Wells County Food Bank — financial support and donations of non-perishable food

Serving Beyond Bluffton

Our commitment to serving others reaches beyond our own community. Through our connections with other Presbyterian churches and organizations, we support ministries working throughout the United States and around the world.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

When disasters strike, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance helps communities respond, recover, and rebuild. Our congregation supports this work as part of our commitment to care for people in times of crisis.

Global Partnerships

We also support Presbyterian mission partnerships and development projects, including:

  • Congo Helping Hands — a development project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

  • Dorcas Baskets for the Dominican Republic — a partnership between Whitewater Valley Presbytery and Iglesia Evangélica Dominicana

  • Kemmerer Village — a childcare agency in the Synod of Lincoln Trails

  • Northern Quintana Roo / El Milagro, Mexico — supporting ministry and community development in Mexico

There Are Many Ways to Serve

Serving others doesn't always mean traveling somewhere or taking on a big project.

Sometimes it's bringing a bag of food to the food pantry.
Sometimes it's serving a meal.
Sometimes it's donating supplies.
Sometimes it's showing up when someone needs a helping hand.

And sometimes it's simply seeing a need and asking, “How can I help?”

At First Presbyterian, we believe that small acts of love can make a big difference.

Come serve with us.
